Apparently, Pixar is trying to teach our children how the Bush administration is trying to destroy the earth, or some such nonsense.

Some people just read WAY too much into things. But you know what I really think? Because yah, you can't deny that there is a strong message to that movie... a message that says "HEY RETARDS STOP FUCKING UP THE PLANET PL0X" I think that the same people that think Wall E is fascist propaganda are the same people that dump their car ashtrays at stop lights. I think these are the same people that throw their unwanted garbage on the ground out of sheer laziness to walk 5 feet to a trash can. These are the people that felt like DOUCHE BAGS because an animated movie told them that inside, they were fat, lazy, disgusting, sorry excuses for human beings. And since they are, they believe it.

Another thing that's been weighing heavily on my mind lately is the story of Jim Jones and Jonestown. A friend just discovered the story, and read up on it. Honestly even though I'd heard stories my whole life, I never knew any sort of details beyond "Crazy dood made some people kill themselves with poison kool aid." I honestly had no idea the scale of the situation.

918 people drank cyanide laced kool aid that day. Many of those people were children. Some even infants. Murdered by their own parents. They were under the false belief that the communist society they had formed was in danger from the US government. Jim Jones convinced these people that they would come "torture" and "butcher" their children and seniors. Obviously when the option of death was brought up, it was preferable.

But you know, in all honesty, I totally understand why people would want to kill themselves in that situation. Look at it this way: It's 1978. From what I understand, many of Jonestown citizens are black. Black people are still getting beaten, killed, tortured for the simple fact that they are black. They finally find a place where they are accepted and even loved despite... because of what they are... human. That peace is threatened, wouldn't you rather die than go back to a world where you are made less than the lowest of animals for the color of your skin? Now, I do think it was a monstrous thing to do to murder all those children. Nobody has the right to take another human's life. Especially not children. But I blame society just as much, if not more than I blame Jim Jones for all those deaths.

A good chunk of society is still hateful and horrible. I'm not just talking about race. There is so much hate for blacks, mexicans, gays, christians, etc etc etc. Everyone hates each other. HATE is what lead those people to Jonestown. HATE is what made them so TERRIFIED to face the world that they took their own lives and murdered babies. It breaks my heart that people have a reason to resort to those things. It breaks my heart that people are so hateful to each other. Human beings are capable of so much, both good and evil. I wish we had more good things happen on such an epic scale as Jonestown.
